Make a Real Contribution to The Protection of Some of The World’s Most Magnificent Animals in The Wondrous Heart of the African Bush
Learn all the basics and then take part in real life anti-poaching operations.
Ideally suited to those with a sense of responsibility and a craving for adventure, these serious courses are based in the game rich Limpopo Province where over the last year poaching has increased considerably, especially on rhino.

By participating you will be directly contributing to African wildlife conservation. As well as learning about all aspects of poaching from the bush meat trade to the ivory trade, you will engage in active measures to prevent the poachers from killing and mutilating the wildlife.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with the African bush and its wild inhabitants whilst being involved in genuinely useful and important work to conserve and protect some of its most beautiful animals.

Learn all the basics and then take part in real life anti-poaching operations.

Day 1
Arrive OR Tambo Johannesburg International Airport
Meet and Greet, transfer (one hour) to Game Lodge
Afternoon: Orientation and welcome BBQ

Day 2
Depart after breakfast to Limopo province Waterberg region.
Evening: Game Drive

Day 3 to day 8
You will be staying in the bush in accommodation which is rustic and tented allowing the free movement of animals such as, Rhino, Buffalo, Hyena, Leopard who roam freely through the camp.
The course will include:


•    Big game tracking skills including Rhinos.
•    Big Game identification and behaviour studies
•    Reptiles/ Identification, location and behaviour studies
•    Survival Bushcraft and Camp-Craft
•    Tracking and Spoor Identification
•    Animal Identification and Behaviour
•    Understanding the Poachers and the Poaching “industry”
•    Anti-Poaching Measures and  Patrol Procedures
•    Radio Communications Procedures
•    The Art of Camouflage and Surveillance
•    Basic and Advanced Weapons Handling
•    Ambush Planning and Procedures
•    Snare Identification and Removal Handling assault rifles and handguns
•    Nocturnally monitoring the movement of endangered species including night games drives in search of leopards and other nocturnal animals 
•    You will also have night’s deployment with an active anti-poaching team.

Day 9
Return to Game Lodge for Lion/Elephant encounter.
At the end of the course there will be a certificate presentation followed by a farewell party.
Your certificate will be recognised by the S.A Police and the international anti-poaching foundation.

Day 10
After a hearty breakfast you will visit a local African Craft Market and the opportunity to experience the local cuisine.
Depart for Airport The course is fully inclusive including all transfers, food, accommodation, tuition, training, equipment and entry fees. (Not included are flights and items of a personal nature)

This is very hands on, however you will not be asked to do anything that you're not comfortable with. 

Due to the nature of this expedition course content is subject to the environment at the time but we will ensure you have a great time and experience wildlife very few are lucky enough to see.

About Les Brett - Your Lead Instructor


Les has 30 years experience in Africa working in countries such as Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.  International, private and public sector organizations often seek his council and guidance when travelling and taking part in expeditions in Africa.  Les has gained his special qualification, experience and training from being a former member of SA Special Forces and Police Service.  Les has trained HM army forces, HM customs and excise, US Special Forces.

What's Included And What's Not

  • Collection from the Airport and transferred to the course location.
  • All Accommodation during the course in very comfortable rustic Bush Camp. All camps are on location in the bush.
  • All Meals - All meals during the course will be provided
  • Instruction -  All Anti-Poaching and Survival courses are conducted by former SA Special Forces experts.
  • Certification - All Course are certificated by the TWPA/ Threatened Wildlife Protection Academy.
  • Insurance - You will need to provide your own travel insurance, we can advise you on this if required.
  • Visa - Full UK passport holders do not require a Visa to enter South Africa however your passport must be valid for six months beyond your entry date.
  • Non UK Residents are welcome on this course, please check your visa requirements, all payments must be made in GBP, and must have a good level of English.
     

Course attendees will need to meet at O.R Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) on day one of the course for transport to the base location, we always advise arriving the day before and stay local to the airport to ensure to make it in time and are rested.
