Trueways Corporate Survival Days and Activities

Trueways Corporate Survival Courses are designed for organisations wishing to have serious fun whilst getting real value from an exciting and motivational experience. This is done in the great outdoors whilst developing communications and teamwork, encouraging participation, and advancing everyones ability to be resourceful.

Motivational Survival Courses for Your Business

Trueways Survival courses have been uniquely designed for the corporate market. Taking the participants 'back to nature' where the need for resourcefulness, team work, determination and a desire to succeed are all important, the benefits are real and highly rewarding.

As A Reward or Building A stronger Team

The value of our courses is twofold. Firstly, as an unusual but exciting reward for work achievement and secondly as both a team and character building exercise with a specific agenda and pre-determined goals in mind. As a result, Trueways courses will be of interest to Sales Managers, Department Heads and Team Leaders as well as HR Directors and Training Managers.

Setting The Scene For Adventure

The courses are often structured around the 'LOST' or stranded type scenarios:

You've had a great financial year! To celebrate, a select number of employees have been chosen to take part in an official celebration with no expense spared. The group travel by executive charter flight from London to Latvia where they are to transfer to a private estate which has recently been converted into a luxury spar retreat. The party board a large helecopter for the final leg of the journey.
Things then take a turn for the worse. Bad weather forces the aircraft to deviate from its flightplan and reduce altitiude. Now flying in mountainous terrain below radio and radar scanning levels, the aircrew are unable to tell anyone of their route change. With visibility bad, and weather worsening, the pilot attempts a precautionary landing with a view to continuing the journey once the conditions have improved. A clearing in the forest is chosen, however, it's only very small and in poor visibility one of the rotors catches a nearby tree and the last 10 feet of landing is a hard fall causing the fuselage to roll on its side upon impact!
The aircraft is damaged yet it hasn't caught fire, its occupants may have been spared the horror of being burned alive, but they are badly shaken and indeed lost.
We are now in the classic Survival situation, how will we survive and ensure we have the best chance of being picked up? The aircrew have basic survival training skills and will therefore assist. However, with only 4 aircrew, much of what is required will have to be done by the team after receiving basic instruction…

Structured by Experts, Led by Experience

Trueways Scenario-based Corporate Adventures are professionally structured by our dedicated team of Survival experts (all with relevant, first-hand military and/or search and resue experience) to be educational, motivational and, above all, fun. Your team will learn how to survive in the wild, perhaps in an unfriendly environment, where a sense of responsibility and keen communicational skills are paramount. More importantly, participants will learn skills that could save their life, or that of a colleague.
Courses run throughout the year and can be arranged at any of the many locations we use around the country. Groups sizes can be anything between half a dozen up to as many as 50 people.

It's also possible to run multiple groups simultaneously along side one another with or without a competitive element.

Courses are typically either 1, 2 or 3 days with the 2 and 3 day courses including an overnight stay in shelters constructed by your team. The courses start at 10am on the first day.

The following reflects a 'typical' 1 day course although things often change from course to course. Obviously 2 and 3 day courses include sleeping out in shelters built by participants or a hotel stayover if you prefer.

Our instructors will give a full brief on the scenario (as above). Everyone will be issued with their own Survival Tin which is theirs to use on the course and keep thereafter. The group will then head-off for the walk to the course's main location utilising the walk to identify and collect flora for later use.

The Group will then be divided up. Each small group will be given a demonstration of shelter building, fire preparation and starting, reflector building and signal fire building. Upon completion of the demonstration, each group will make their own Shelter, Reflector, Fire and signal fire whilst managing to bring some water to the boil (which is not as easy as it sounds – especially if it's raining!). These attempts will be marked by our instructors for effort, speed of construction, robustness and usability.

As the day draws to an end, winning groups will be chosen and prizes will be awarded for the best efforts and results. Everyone who attends the course, makes an effort and learns something will be presented with a Survival Certificate.
